Behavioral Medicine is the interdisciplinary field concerned with the development and integration of behavioral, psychosocial, and biomedical science knowledge and techniques relevant to health and illness and the application of this knowledge to prevention, etiology, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. The scope of "behavioral medicine" extends from research efforts to understand fundamental biobehavioral mechanisms; to clinical diagnosis and intervention; to disease prevention and health promotion.
The Behavioral Medicine Research Program at the University of Miami has been at the forefront of this interdisciplinary field since its establishment in 1979. On this web site you will find information about our research and training programs as well as a wealth of other relevant information. Please feel free to contact one of our faculty investigators or staff if you have any questions about our programs.
